Maree/Oranmore FC held their first Football For All Programme session last Saturday afternoon in the Maree Community Centre Hall under the direction of club volunteer Paul Mc Carthy. The programme caters for children from 6 to 14 years with various abilities and is part of our clubs vision to provide soccer for all in our locality. Thanks to John Morris Burke of the FAI and club volunteers David Watterson, Mike Quirke and to Erika and Niall and to all the parents and siblings. The programme continues each Saturday from 4pm to 5pm in the Maree Hall. Paul can be contacted on footballforallmareeoranmore@gmail.com

In the FAI u17 Cup played in Fahys Field on Saturday last Maree/Oranmore fc defeated local rivals Mervue on penalties after the game finished 3-3 after extra time in a thriller where keeper Eric Landers producing a man of the match display, saving a penalty in the game and two in the dreaded spot kicks. Coming from behind on three occasions the lads had to certainly work hard in a very good game. The Maree/Oranmore goals came courtesy of Eoin Lyons, Caden Okuguni and Adam Lally. In the penalty shoot out the visitors emerged victorious in sudden death after goals from Cillian Cawley O Neill, the excellent Shane Cox and Adam Lally, Ciaran Black, Caden Okuguni and the winning spot kick from Cian Horgan. Other Cup News

No luck in Westport in the sfai u13 and u15 cups where the visitors came up against two excellent Westport Utd sides, the goalscorer for the u13's was Eanna Costello while Gavin Smyth got a consolation goal for the u15's on an off day.

Juniors

The Junior Reserve side had a comfortable win at home on Saturday against a youthful Corrib Rangers side with Oisin Doyle and Malachy Black both notching hat tricks in a fine display.

Other Team News

Well done to Alan Greene and Alex Fearon who have been selected on the Connacht Youths Panel for the upcoming Interpros in Cork.

The u16 girls continued their recent progress with a fine 5-1 win against Corrib Celtic in Annaghdown on Sunday last with goals from Roise Mc Mahon, Nicole Duffy and three from Aisling Quinn. The u14s girls however went down at home to a good Bearna Na Forbacha side on Saturday.

The u15 Division 2 side played a thrilling 4-4 draw with Cregmore/Claregalway with the goals courtesy of three from Sam Lund and a neat finish from Kristian Kowaczyk. The u11 boys development side under Dan Mc Cormack, Kieran O Connell and Gareth Ramberg had an exciting series of games against neighbours Cregmore/Claregalway in front of a large appreciative audience.

Last Man Standing

Club players are reminded to return their last man standing cards and money to their coaches. The Competition begins with fixtures for the weekend of the 20/21st October. Just €10 per entry and get one free entry with every 4 paid entries! Prize fund is €1000
